Will Tran
Created by Brian Shields on 9/23/2009 2:41:00 PM

Will has been a reporter in San Francisco since 2001. His first stop in San Francisco was at NBC11, covering a wide range of stories including the search for Laci Peterson. When Scott Peterson was arrested, Will did numerous liveshots for television stations across the country, including MSNBC.

After NBC11, Will spent a few months reporting for KVVU-FOX in Las Vegas where he won an Associated Press Breaking News Award. Will was the first reporter to break the news that Charles McCoy Jr., the Ohio freeway sniper, was arrested in Las Vegas . Like the Peterson case, Will did numerous liveshots for stations across the country including the FOX News Channel.

From there, it was back to San Francisco to be at KRON4 news where he's been since 2004. In 2006, Will was given the opportunity to follow Barry Bonds' attempt to pass Babe Ruth's homerun record while the team was on the road.

Prior to 2001 and San Francisco , Will was the morning reporter for the Orange County Newschannel in the Los Angeles market. While at OCN Will was able to polish his liveshot skills by having the opportunity to doing at least 12 a day. This is one of the reasons why Will enjoys doing liveshots, especially during breaking news.

Will spent three years reporting at KGMB-CBS in Honolulu , Hawaii (1996-99) where he won a Society of Professional Journalists business reporting award. The most proud thing about winning this award was the fact that Will was not a designated business reporter.

Will has also reported at KATU-ABC in Portland , Oregon (2000), the CNN affiliate on Guam , USA (1995-96) as well as KNDO in Yakima , Washington (1994-95).

Will graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. in Communications and a Minor in Psychology in 1994.

Giants coverage
In the excitement of Giants fever, please get real fans in front of your camera. Not like the ones this morning. Those guys were a poor representation of our fan base. Clueless.

Great Guy
I used to run into Will at Boudin when he was covering the "financial woes" in the financial district. He's very polite and we used to look forward to seeing him there

Bay bridge
When is CalTrans going to realize that the bridge parts made in China are defective like the toxic sheet rock, toxic pet food and baby formula and medicine that murdered 88 Americans from products all "Made in China". This needs serious investigation. Thank you
